Overcoming the odds

When it comes to an impossible task, PopCorners is a firm believer in scoffing at the naysayers and giving it your all. So we're highlighting teams who've done deadlines better, pushing to break records, giving it their all and delivering when it matters most. These three stories capture the imagination of the world and are reminders of how good the payoff of determination can feel!*

ELIUD KIPCHOGE SUB-2-HOUR MARATHON

World renown marathoner, Eliud Kipchoge became the first person ever to run a marathon in under two hours. In just 1:59:40, Kipchoge with help from a team of pacers and bike-riding support, maintained a pace of 4:35 per mile for 26.2 miles, to achieve a feat of athleticism the world has never seen.

THE IMMACULATE RECEPTION

Down 7-6, with 1:17 remaining, Steelers' QB Terry Bradshaw, bounces a pass off a defender's helmet, when it's scooped up inches off the ground by Franco Harris. The sudden deflection and forward momentum gave the fullback a clear path into the end zone and NFL history. This play is known to have been a turnaround moment for the Steelers. A bit of luck and a lot of determination and teamwork secured this sweet victory and a trip to the AFC.

QUEEN LIVE AID PERFORMANCE

With almost two billion people watching around the globe, Queen stepped on stage and had about 18 minutes to convince the world to open their hearts and their wallets for this once-in-a-lifetime charity event. After blazing through a lightning 6-song set, Queen etched their names in rock 'n' roll lure, captured the imagination of the world, and helped raise millions of dollars for famine relief.
